Bidomain Calcium Dynamics in Cardiac Cell

In our project [35], we are interested in modeling the interaction of Calcium dynamics in a bidomain medium including Sarcolemma and Sarcoplasmic reticulum. The governing equations consist of a nonlinear reaction-diffusion system representing the various calcium fuxes and theirs buffers in the two medias. A priori stability bounds and the solvability of the system is analyzed using a fixed-point approach. We introduce a finite element method to numerically solve our model equations. Moreover, we establish existence of discrete solutions and show convergence to a weak solution of the original problem. Finally, we report several 2D and 3D numerical experiments illustrating the behavior of the proposed scheme.
